The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had stipulated and well inputted mission and vision which it thinks it is working in accordance with them as an independent institution managing elections in Nigeria but unfortunately this institution is not living ought to their vision and mission during the general elections in Nigeria. What is the reason and why did we experience these contradictory mission and vision of this commission in the last election. Should we allow it to repeat itself or not? How do we stop it? The INEC should realize our yearning and does the needful in order to satisfy the expectation of the people come this gubernatorial election.
Thus, the mission of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is "to serve as an independent and effective Election Management Body (EMB) committed to the conduct of free, fair and credible elections for sustainable democracy in Nigeria. The question now remains whether the Independent National Electoral Commission has ever upheld their mission towards the good of the country and its citizens see in its integrity and transparency in elections in the country? Could we attest that it has lived ought to its mission and vision or not?
Suffice it to say that it really needs to know the essence of its mission of conducting free, fair and credible elections for sustainable democracy in Nigeria but unfortunately the body had allegedly contradicted and compromised this mission in Nigeria which the majority of the voters (people) have beheld the evidence through the declaration of presidential result. We are saying that these gubernatorial and state house of assembly should not witness these irregularities? Allow the process to be free, fair and credible in order to have good leaders and Representatives in our states are what we are saying.
Apparently, it is pertinent to know that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also has vision "to be one of the best Election Management Bodies (EMBs) in the world that meets the aspirations of the Nigerian people". This vision is not enacted for nothing but for something which is to be an independent and transparency body in conducting elections in Nigeria.
However, should we query about this vision of this commission because their philosophy and disposition quite did not reflect with this vision in the just concluded presidential election. This is evidently discovered in 2023 presidential election results that the expectations of the people were not met.
This is the reason, we are not sure it has knowledge of vision of its commission that is why we are still asking how can it be able to be the best Election Management Body (EMB) that meets the aspirations of the Nigerian people where it has turned itself into corrupt institution through declaring what is not the expectation of majority of Nigerian voters (people) in this 2023 presidential election. Can we affirm that the declaration had no consideration of the majority voters in the presidential election let alone to talk about free, fair and credible election. How can we perceive the presidential election results presented by the INEC let alone to accept it? Does the commission truly acknowledge its guiding principles that would have helped in fulfilling its vision and mission through demonstrating these principles known as autonomy, transparency, integrity, credibility, impartiality, dedication, equity, excellence and teamframe that would have benefitted the country in the good light and achieve the majority voters' expectation not their clannish interest.
These mission, vision and principles that guide INEC, is to be stick with and guide the independent institution to be committed to the conduct of free, fair and credible election for sustainable democracy in Nigeria.
The essence of the principles is to ginger and trigger the body of election management to fulfil the vision and mission to have a transparent elections in the country if only the individuals that are appointed to manage and overseeing the institution will do the right and positive things by sticking with their mission and vision.
Yes, standard must be maintained
