 EDUCATION: CORRUPTION IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES

Corruption n entails an ill wind that blows no good. Frank Ogodo Ogbeche in his novel titled "Harvest of Corruption", assert that Nigeria for a long time now has been witnessing various forms of corruption. There has been for instance the breakdown of social discipline, moral decadence and corruption in high and low places. It is difficult today to see much people of integrity.

Our society these days have changed negatively in that people can no longer believe that there are still honest men in the society, especially people in positions of trust and authority, let alone civil and public servants as well as academic staff in Nigeria. AE-FUNAI as a nascent university has been battling to corruption-free in its operations.

As a tertiary institution of repute, it maintains a slogan which says "Play straight or you go home" to show its zero tolerance for any form of corruption. This slogan has actually put fear in the mind of notorious and criminal elements on campus whose missions are to tarnish the image of the institution.

Records have it that greater percent of the best graduating students in labour market are students from AE-FUNAI. This critically explains the fact that AE-FUNAI is doing a great job in contending corruption. It is on this premises that AE-FUNAI management placed high premium on integrity, honesty and hard work. Good enough, the new Vice-Chancellor is committed to good governance that would help enthrone discipline in the institution.
