TEXT OF A SPEECH BY DR ALEX C. OTTI

TEXT OF A SPEECH BY DR ALEX C. OTTI, OFR, ON HIS INAUGURATION AS GOVERNOR OF ABIA STATE, ON MAY 29, 2023. Protocol 1. A few moments ago, I was sworn in as the 5th democratically elected Governor of Abia, God’s Own State. It is, therefore, with great delight, humility, and a high sense of duty that I address you all now for the first time in that capacity. 2. On the 22nd of March this year, when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced us winners in the bruising and long-drawn-out Abia gubernational elections, our first task was to head to church to give thanks to the Almighty God and to hand over the state to Him, knowing that anything left in His hands remains secure. He is the author and finisher, the foundation of all successful endeavours of mankind. Just like the Christain community did a few days ago, I use this solemn and formal occasion to rededicate Abia State to God Almighty. 3. In line with the foregoing, I wish to start by thanking God for...

EGRESSIVE OTTISM AND HIS HOPING STRIDES IN ABIA STATE

EGRESSIVE OTTISM AND HIS HOPING STRIDES IN ABIA STATE Written by Mbibi Longinus Chinagorom/mbibilonginuschinagorom100@gmail.com As 2023 general elections having been concluded especially the governorship election in Abia State, the fairly declaration of the winner in the person of Dr Alex Otti was and still being a thing of joy to the Abians.  Dr. Alex Otti has geared up and proven among the major contenders of the number one seat of power in the state. This tussle has been a thing of patience, persistence and perseverance to him. His vision of white house ambitions started since 2015 till 2023 to become the governor of the State in order to fix and transform it. Today being 29 May, 2022 has marked the possibility of his ambition to step into the white house of power and authority. It is not in doubt that despite his mandate was stolen in 2015 general elections , criticism of dual citizenship and other forms of aspersions on the personality of the Governor, he remains patien...

PENALTIES OF GREATNESS

PENALTIES OF GREATNESS Written by Mbibi Longinus Chinagorom/mbibilonginuschinagorom@gmail.com A careful look into the movements of men and women in their daily life either in the city or in the country-side will reveal how much people are determined not only to get their daily bread but also to have a surplus left over. Almost ninety in every hundred of the working people have it uppermost in their minds to accumulate wealth beside the necessary daily bread. Their range of economic activities show this. The desire is inborn. But unfortunately people can not realise that to be great is to be confronted with difficulties. There are various forms of greatness with their corresponding penalties. The attachment or association of greatness cannot normally be limited to people alone except that the greatness of the latter is often self-imposed and hence the resulting penalties may not deserve sympathy. Thus we have greatness of countries, towns, animals, tress, birds and human beings. U...

THE SEXUALITY OF CAMPUS LIFE

THE SEXUALITY OF CAMPUS LIFE Written by Mbibi Longinus Chinagorom/mbibilonginuschinagorom@gmail.com The act of having sexual knowledge or intercourse by one to another among young men and women on campus is so rampant to extent that it is now appears as a worm. This common phenomenon is doing even more harm than cultism in the campus. This is because of the fact that there is so much liberty on campus. Thus premarital sex is one of the commonest feature of campus life. The young men and women who mostly constitute the population of our tertiary institutions have made premarital sex so headstrong and wanton that it is now be as louse as squirm on campus. They have given a new definition to the boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. Premarital sex has, in fact, become one of the highest common phenomenon of the tertiary institutions. Many reasons contribute to this, is because of unlimited liberty on campus. This makes morality to be laxed, slacked and loosened. Once more, these are yo...

DRUGS THE PUBLIC ENEMY

DRUGS THE PUBLIC ENEMY Written by Mbibi Longinus Chinagorom/mbibilonginuschinagorom@gmail.com I didn't want to write this article because of the incredible pressure on our youth to try drugs and alcohol but I did. The public enemy called 'drugs' in our tertiary institutions and country seem to be overlooked which have been a generation pain that brings untimely death; cut off future purposes;  and rubbishing destinies of the young people thereby intensifying more pains from one generation to another. Thus there is an overwhelming amount of our youth who will experiment with these substances. Worse yet, many of these people and their families will suffer greatly from addiction and other traumas that go along with substance abuse. Imagine a young 17 year old boy or girl with everything going for him or her. However, by the time he or she graduates from university the chances of taking drugs in high quantity is so alarming and worrisome. Oftentimes, some of the young people ...

CAUSES OF RAPE SYNDROME IN OUR TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

CAUSES OF RAPE SYNDROME IN OUR TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS Written by Mbibi Longinus Chinagorom/mbibilonginuschinagorom100@gmail.com Rape occurs on virtually all campuses, small or large private or public, rural or urban. The truth is that rape cannot always be prevented, but the more you know about it, the more likely it is for you to avoid being in a occur. The most common form of rape on our campuses today is what I call"date rape" this happens where a female student in the quest for fun, pays a male student friend in his apartment. She will end up being threatened, forced or persuaded to have intercourse with him against her will. Date rape is another phenomenon that destroys the self-confidence of our women for life. It is more painful to a woman especially when she is being raped by someone she knows and had previously liked and trusted. Today about 80% of rape cases on campuses are all date rapes. One of the major causes of sexual assault against women in tertiary institutio...

CAN INNOCENT STUDENT BE ATTACKED BY CULTIST?

CAN INNOCENT STUDENT BE ATTACKED BY CULTIST? Written by Mbibi Longinus Chinagorom/mbibilonginuschinagorom@gmail.com There have been some cases where innocent students were attacked during cult clash in tertiary institutions while some were seriously wounded. At times when the campus is thrown into confusion as a result of the activities of the dreaded secret cults, some members of the cults unleash unquantifiable terror and destruction on the innocent students. At the end of such 'hit' properties of these innocent students may be destroyed and some killed. The question people keep asking is: why should cult members attack an innocent student (non-cult member)? Let us look into some of the reasons that can make a non-cult member Falls victim of cult attack. First, there are some students who though they are not in cult but love associating or identifying themselves with cult members. They are always seen around and in the mist of cult members; charting, eating and drinking. The ...

HOW TO ERADICATE CULTISM FROM OUR TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

HOW TO ERADICATE CULTISM FROM OUR TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS Written by Mbibi Longinus Chinagorom/ mbibilonginuschinagorom@gmail.com Cultism cannot just be eradicated easily but it can be minimized. A lot of factors need to be put under control for the successful eradication of cultism in secondary and tertiary institutions. All hands must be on deck if we actually want to eradicate cultism in our tertiary institutions. Let us look into some barriers that hinder the successful eradication of cultism in our tertiary institutions. They are; School Authority, Police Force and Government. All these bodies knowingly or unknowingly, directly or indirectly encourage cultism in tertiary institutions. Let us take a look at them one after the other and see how or ways by which they encourage cultism in tertiary institutions. The School Authority: Admission into tertiary institutions today, is no longer on merit. People, who couldn't pass Jamb, bribe their ways into school. Even with the introdu...

DANGERS OF CULTISM IN OUR SOCIETY

DANGERS OF CULTISM IN OUR SOCIETY Written by Mbibi Longinus Chinagorom/ mbibilonginuschinagorom@gmail.com The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of 1979, section 35 (4) defined a secret society as a society or an association, not being solely cultural or religious body, that uses secret signs, oaths, rites or symbols".  Cultism in whatever form it takes, involves some forms of secrecy in its membership and operations. Rituals, secrecy signs, oath taking, rites and use of symbols are often used. Rigorous rituals and oath-taking comes up in their operations and in the initiation of new members. The beginning of cultism in Nigeria can be traced back beyond the old empire regimes in which cults welded much influence on the society; call them cabal or mafia. From the early 1930s in Nigeria, secret societies started springing up in the society especially among the few educated elites, the royalties and the bourgeois. Cults like ogboni, Amoc, Dlawrence etc held sway. T...
