The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)'s Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) has been doomed by the Election Management Body called INEC with the needless excuses that dissuaded the decide, desire and expectation of the majority of Nigerian people in the just concluded 2023 presidential election in the country. Some Polling Units in wards in different zones in the country were allegedly used the manual pattern to vote during the election instead of electronic system that had been signed into law. There were alots of complaining and panicking that not all the results were uploaded into the INEC saver and the electoral Act of some sections had been violated.
Nevertheless, it is also seen on how the presidential results of each candidate of political parties are being ranked and graded without any consideration of integrity, transparency and impartiality that guide the conduct of the election but compromise, manipulation and contradiction indulge with the clannish interest by the Election Management Body could not allow them to uphold these principles in order to represent the will of the majority of the voters.
Thus, this independent institution known as INEC had established well mission and vision which it thinks it is working in accordance with them as an independent institution managing elections in Nigeria but unfortunately this institution has turned into corrupt institution without any insight of their mission and vision that would have driven the institution on the right path but the reverse is the case.
However, it is worthy to note that the mission of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is "to serve as an independent and effective Election Management Body (EMB) committed to the conduct of free, fair and credible elections for sustainable democracy in Nigeria. The question becomes, have the Independent National Electoral Commission awared of what their mission what is all about in Nigeria towards elections especially presidential election or does it establish the mission to live in hypocritical light in such a way that victimized the country and its people in climate of perplexities, annoyance and vulnerable.
Suffice it to say that it really needs to know the essence of its mission of conducting free, fair and credible elections for sustainable democracy in Nigeria but unfortunately the body had contradicted and compromised this mission in Nigeria which the majority of the voters (people) have beheld the evidence through the declaration of presidential result.
Thus, it is pertinent to know that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also has vision "to be one of the best Election Management Bodies (EMBs) in the world that meets the aspirations of the Nigerian people". There should be query about this vision of this commission because their philosophy and disposition quite did not reflect with this vision in the just concluded presidential election. This is evidently discovered in 2023 presidential election results declaration by the independent institution.
This is the reason, we e are not sure it has knowledge of vision of its commission that is why we are still asking how can it be able to be the best Election Management Body (EMB) that meets the aspirations of the Nigerian people where it has turned itself into corrupt institution through declaring what is not the expectation of majority of Nigerian voters (people) in this 2023 presidential election. Can we affirm that the declaration had no consideration of the majority voters in the presidential election let alone to talk about free, fair and credible election. How can we perceive the presidential election results presented by the INEC let alone to accept it? Does the commission truly acknowledge its guiding principles that would have helped in fulfilling its vision and mission through demonstrating these principles known as autonomy, transparency, integrity, credibility, impartiality, dedication, equity, excellence and teamframe that would have benefitted the country in the good light and achieve the majority voters' expectation not their clannish interest.
These principles that guide INEC, is to help and guide the independent institution to be committed to the conduct of free, fair and credible election for sustainable democracy in Nigeria but the opposite is the case. The essence of the principles that come to help to fulfill the vision and mission to have a transparent presidential election has been trashed and the hope and expectation of majority voters have been undermined because of propelling of selfish and clannish interest of some politicians and body to rig election and declare who they want not the majority of Nigerian people's choice.
Good.
