Political Greatness: Hallucination or Reality

 POLITICAL GREATNESS: HALLUCINATION OR REALITY?

Leadership struggle in Nigeria by government at various levels; starting from Federal to State down to Local (grassroots) have been the business of rapacious ambitions among the politicians to amass our common wealth at expense of the people. This has been the bane of leadership in Nigeria.

The avarice of the political/ruling class has deprived the nation the dividends of democracy. This has resulted to insecurities, divisions, marginalization, degradation and humiliation of the country and its citizens. Those either elected or appointed in positions of trust have chosen to embrace corruption. Their target is usually the looting of the Treasury. They delight in corrupt practicing and employ strategic processes that encourages and empower all forms of nefarious and fraudulent act in the country.

How can our country Nigeria be great? The much talked about greatness of Nigeria; the so-called giant of Africa, is it a hallucination or reality? These are questions begging for answers. Suffice it however to say that without good dreams and positive ambitious mindset towards this nation from the political leaders to fix it both constitutionally and developmentally; and restructuring of other strata that are viable and add up values to the sustainable development and solutions to the nation's building and like other western civilized countries, it will often put the nation's image in the bad light.

More so, the motivation of this evil scheme of the Nigeria's political leaders have caused more harm than good in the nation because it enables their self-seeking and amassing of wealth in expense of other people's lives and properties to be accomplished. This must stop and be truncated if Nigeria shall be great again among her counterparts.

Therefore, if only they could remember that they have gone to schools and passed various classes from basics up to secondary even to the extent of acquiring different bachelor of degrees, master degrees and doctors of philosophy from different tertiary institutions still there is no good knowledge of moral conduct and impeccable sense of leadership in using their political power and positions.

They are making use of their education acquired so far to eat up the prosperity and richness of the country in systematic ways that favour the political echelons without thinking and rethinking that such prosperity and wealth do not belong to them but the country and its citizens well-being. Mores, the expectations of education towards nation's building acquired by these leaders turned to the detrimental towards the country and the citizens suffer the perplexity of it.

There will be no change if such mindset is continued to be used in ruling this country. If only the ruling class could realize the intent and rationale of leadership in their hearts and on their minds to the citizenry and the country that leadership is all about being selflessness, openness and accountable rather than having rapacious ambition, and self-centered in the administration which they are privilege to manage. The issue of insecurities will be a something past in the country.

Finally, there should be repentance and rejuvenation of hearts, minds and insights among Nigerian leaders especially political officer's holders. This will also help them to come up with good policies and positive thoughts and decisions that will affect the country positively and bring giant strides to the Nigeria as a country and its citizenry.
